gigabyte gv n66256dp video card

I have the above card in my acer SA10 computer. I have installed the latest Vista drivers from Nvidia (88-61) . But on occasions my screen goes blank and then Vista advises me that Driver nvlddmkm.sys which is in the System32/Driver file has failed and that they succesfully restarted it.
As I have been having some problems with games like FEAR, Halflife 2 in that there is tearing in the texture, I was wondering if the driver failure/weakness may be the major factor with the problems with games i have been having.
has anyone else had such problems and have they come up with solution

Read the release notes for your driver which are on the same dowload page as the one you got the driver from they may tell you if the problem you are having wioth your specific games is a known problem.
